Milestones In Our History
Grace Community Church was started with approximately twelve people on March 12, 1989. As the months quickly turned into years, we realized that we were a
church that was here to stay. With a growing sense of permanence, we
started the Possess Our Land campaign, raising enough money to purchase
seven acres of land at Hedgcoxe and Preston Meadow Road.
Our Field of Dreams campaign, encompassing the building of our worship center, was completed in March 2002, giving us a sanctuary that seats nearly 1500. Today, with over 90 ministries from children to church start-ups, and addictions support groups to community groups, thousands of lives are being touched by God and changed for eternity.
Today, Frisco and Allen have more kids in pre-school than there are kids in school from kindergarten through grade 12. McKinney had about 15,000 students in school last year; and over 9,000 children who aren't old enough for school waiting in the wings! According to demographers, this trend is unique and presents unprecedented challenges and opportunities. God told his people in Isaiah 43:19, "Behold I will do something new; now it will spring forth, will you not be aware of it?"
In response to what God is doing in our area, the thousands of families who need Christ, and our increasing need for children’s space, Grace stepped out in faith once again, and began another spiritual journey entitled, Generations of Grace. In the Fall of 2003, the people of Grace pledged $5.4 million dollars to build a multi-sensory, experiential children’s building. Opened in 2005, Son City is a nearly 50,000 square feet facility accommodating over 500 children per service, and it attracts families who would normally not step into a traditional church.
