Christ has called us to begin at home with the message of His love. As Christians, we can fulfill that call personally, in small groups, and as a church. As you look for areas to begin practicing P.E.A.C.E., consider starting in your neighborhood and/or apartment complex.
This will involve you or your small group intentionally surveying your area
and developing P.E.A.C.E. steps. Tools and resources are available to
assist your group in reaching others. Below are some recommended community mission opportunities.
Neighborhood PEACE
You can practice P.E.A.C.E. right in your own backyard and immediate community. Consider the needs in your
neighborhood, where your kids go to school or maybe even in your
workplace. Tools for neighborhood P.E.A.C.E.
Food Drive
Regular food drives are held at Grace in cooperation with Willow Creek Fellowship Church of East Plano. You and/or your small group can drop off donations of canned and dry goods at the main entrance to the church during these drives. Watch the bulletin for upcoming food drive dates or check the church missions calendar.CITY House (teens)
For over 20 years, CITY House has been providing a safe environment for teens and is the only teen homeless shelter in Collin County. The Transitional Living Program helps young people develop the skills to become independent and productive members of the community. You can get involved with a maintenance/repair crew, help with office work or coordinate meals.Learn more about CITY House
Impact Day
Each year Grace participates in a church-wide community service project. In the past we have cleaned up local parks, visited with the elderly, helped people with yard work, and painted homes, just to name a few. This year we did a food drive for God's Food Pantry and donated over 6,000 items. Look for more information about Impact Day in the spring. Carter Blood Care
Grace participates in quarterly on-site blood drives, providing much needed supplies to the community and beyond. Blood drive dates are published in the weekend bulletin and on the church calendar. If you've never given blood before, learn more about Donor Eligibility at the Carter BloodCare Website.Dallas Ramps
Dallas Ramps has built nearly 2000 ramps, at a rate of more than 240 per year. Volunteers say it's the most satisfying work they have ever done; liberating people imprisoned in their homes, unable to get out because of the fronts steps that most take for granted. Work days are the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays
and last Mondays of every month. Learn more about Dallas Ramps
Samaritan Inn (adults/families)
The Samaritan Inn was established in 1984 and is the only homeless shelter in a county of 650,000 residents. All services are provided free of charge through funding made from donations by churches, service organizations, corporations, and individuals. The Samaritan Inn is also an agency member of the United Way of Collin County. Learn more about the Samaritan Inn
